Spencer began his racing career in August of 2007 in the Beginner Purple 6 and under class at Causeyville Speedway. He raced in four races that season and won two of them including the special Labor Day Weekend Big Money Race at Causeyville.
 
In 2008 Spencer moved up to the Beginner Purple 7 and up class. After winning 6 races in a row and securing the 2008 Causeyville Raceway points championship he moved up to rookie purple winning his first race out. Spencer was undefeated in 2008.
 
For 2009 Spencer is running at Causeyville Speedway as well as the Mississippi Dirt Track Series. It took a couple of races and two 2nd place finishes to get the new chassis dialed in but he recorded his first win of the season May 2nd at Causeyville and his first win in the MS Dirt Track Series May 16th at Causeyville.
